My name is Kristin Kelly. The 2016-2017 school year will be my fifth year teaching the GSRP Program at Portage. Before taking this position, I worked in Benton Harbor teaching GSRP for one year. Prior to working in Benton Harbor, I taught in Milan, Ohio at Edison Local Schools for nine years. While in Milan, I taught preschool for 4 years, kindergarten for 1 year, second grade for 3 years, and split between first and third grade for 1 year. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Defiance College and have my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Bowling Green State University. I hold an Elementary K-5 Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement.

My husband KJ and I live about 30 minutes away from Portage.  He is the director of a youth camp for children and typically we are always busy with the many activities that are going on at Camp Kidwell.   KJ and I have two children. Our son, Matthew, started fourth grade this fall, loves to play soccer, enjoys riding his bike, and loves to jump on the trampoline. Our second child Madelyn turned three in August. She loves to explore, climb, ride her bike, sing songs, read books, and just started her first dance class in September. My hobbies include: spending time with our families, photography, watching Matthew play soccer, going on bike rides with Madelyn, reading, spending time and spoiling my nieces and nephews, and riding four wheelers at my in-law's farm.

My name is Meredith Havenhill. This school year will be my first year working at Woodland as a parapro, although I have been part of the Woodland family for many years serving as the room parent for various teachers and more recently as PTO co-president. My husband Eric and I live in Portage with our 3 children, Sara, Emily and Nathan, all of whom have attended Woodland since preschool or Young 5’s. They are currently in Kindergarten, Third, and Fifth grade, respectively.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University where I majored in Elementary Science with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I hold an Elementary K-5 Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement. I began my teaching career in a preschool program in the Wayne/Westland area, where I taught for almost 2 years. I moved to Kalamazooafter I married and taught for 8 years at Kalamazoo Advantage Academy in downtown Kalamazoo, first as a Kindergarten teacher and then 7 years as the
lead teacher of the GSRP program (called MSRP back then). For the past 8 years, I have been a stay-at- home mom and have enjoyed every moment of it! My youngest started Kindergarten this year so I was able to return to teaching and am very excited to be part of the wonderful GSRP team here at Woodland.
