Tomorrow is the BIG DAY! A few of things to remember.
1-Transportation by PPS buses will happen and it usually takes a few days for all the routes to smooth out as the drivers learn the children and the routes.
2-We will have rest time daily. If your child would like to bring a blanket or small pillow that can be left at school for the week (or in this case two days) send it with him/her in the his/her back pack.
3- put your child on the bus the first day and then either follow the bus or come to the school and meet your child at Woodland as he/she gets off the bus.
4- You will say 'see you later' to your child in the lobby.

All GSRP students/families are required to fill out a Food Service Application.  Families will not be charged for snacks or meals.  We need these to complete our internal accounting procedures.  You may fill out the application online at   Otherwise we will provide a paper application on our first home visit.  Please include all adults and all children in the home on the application.  Thank you.

****************PLEASE READ COMPLETELY***********
Your child will be receiving a letter in the mail from Mrs. Wasson and me hopefully before we come to visit with your child at the first home visit. Please let your child open the letter and then you can read it to him/her. Also included in the envelope will be a letter introducing myself, Mrs. Wasson, and Miss Kasten. Miss Kasten will be doing her Early Child Internship from mid November through mid January in our classroom. A suggested list of donations will also be included. These items are NOT required. They are items that are suggested if you would like to donate them to the classroom. The items are used throughout the year and if we run short I may send another notice home that we are low on a certain supply. If you're able to help that is great. If not, no worries.

Many families want to know why we come to their home. This is required of our program by the Michigan Department of Education Great Start Readiness Grant. It allows us to meet the child in his/her home where he/she is comfortable. We talk with the child about school and activities. We also take two photos of the child. One individually and one with us. We print and leave the group photo with the child. This creates a connection for the child when he/she visits the classroom the night of the Open House ( September 14). We will also collect extra paperwork that is required.

The first day of preschool is Monday, September 18. If your child will be riding the bus on a regular basis, please put him/her on the bus the first day. It is important to establish routine from the beginning. You are more than welcome to follow the bus and/or meet your child at school. You may hug and kiss your child in the lobby and tell them to have a good day. We will take the class to the room from the lobby.

You may volunteer in the classroom after October 1. The first two weeks it is important for your child to know that he/she is safe and cared for at school.
If you have questions about the classroom, feel free to post them on this page. Other parents may be wondering the same. If you have questions or concerns about your child, please email me separately at

Thank you for reading this lengthy post. I am looking forward to a great year in preschool.
